Affiliate Program Terms

v1.0, effective 2026-07-22

These terms govern the ClaroCal affiliate program, operated by Victoria Garland Creative Inc. (“we”/“us”). They apply to you as an affiliate. They are separate from the Terms of Service, which govern the use of ClaroCal itself. You do not need a ClaroCal account to be an affiliate, and having one changes nothing here.

When these terms change, the version above changes with them, and the version being replaced is published at its own permalink under /affiliates/terms/ before the new one takes its place. So you can always read the version you accepted, not only the current one. Which version you accepted is recorded when you apply. v1.0 is the first version and supersedes nothing.

1. The offer

You earn 30% of every payment we actually receive from a customer you referred, for as long as that customer keeps paying. There is no cap, no expiry on the earning period, and no requirement to keep promoting to keep earning.

The rate is locked per referral. The rate that applies to a referral is the rate in effect at the moment that referral was attributed to you, and it does not change for the life of that subscription. If we ever change the rate, the change applies only to referrals attributed after it takes effect. A referral you made under 30% stays at 30%.

30% of the current plan prices, Essential $6, Plus $10, Power $16 per month (annual at ten months’ price), is $1.80 to $4.80 per month, per referred customer, for as long as they stay.

2. Applying

Apply at app.clarocal.com/affiliates/apply. Every application is read by a person. We aim to answer within 5 business days.

There is no audience-size requirement. What we look at is that you are a real, identifiable person or business, and that you name a place you will promote ClaroCal that we can open and look at: a site, a newsletter, a channel, a podcast. “Social media” is not a place. The place must not be a prohibited channel under section 7.

You propose your own referral code, subject to our approval. Codes are 6 to 16 letters and numbers, and codes that impersonate ClaroCal or a member of our team are reserved.

Your link is not live until you are approved. Before approval your code redirects like any other link, but it attributes nothing and counts nothing. If you publish before you hear from us, those clicks are lost and we cannot recover them. If we reject your application we will tell you, and you may apply again.

Your link has the form clarocal.com/r/<your-code>/, and you can point it at any page on our marketing site by adding that page’s path. If you write a comparison against another planner, link straight to it:

clarocal.com/r/yourcode/
clarocal.com/r/yourcode/pricing/
clarocal.com/r/yourcode/alternatives/motion/

How attribution works, in full:

4. How commissions work

  1. You earn on payments we receive, not on signups, trials, or invoices we issue but never collect. The commission is 30% of the payment excluding tax, calculated before our payment processing fees, so you are not charged a share of our costs.
  2. Commissions are held for 30 days before becoming payable. That is the refund window passing. It is a delay, not a condition, and it is the only thing standing between an accrued commission and a payable one.
  3. A refund or chargeback reverses the matching commission. A partial refund reverses proportionally.
  4. If a reversal lands after we have already paid you, your balance simply goes negative and future commissions offset it. We will never ask you to send money back, and we will never pursue you for a negative balance. If you leave the program holding one, it is written off.
  5. Commissions accrue in US dollars, because that is the currency our subscriptions are billed in. If we pay you in another currency, we record the exchange rate used and show it with the payout.

You can ask us for your balance and the ledger behind it at any time.

5. Payouts

Disputes have no time limit. If a payment looks wrong, tell us whenever you notice. The ledger is append-only and permanent, so there is nothing to reconstruct and no cutoff to miss.

6. Taxes

Amounts we pay you are exclusive of applicable taxes. You are responsible for any tax owed on the amounts we pay you, including income tax, and for your own filings. Nothing is withheld at source unless the law requires it.

Where you are required to charge GST/HST on your commissions, we will handle it through the tax profile you complete before your first payout. That profile is collected before money moves rather than after, because what it says can change what either of us owes.

7. How you may promote ClaroCal

What we want. Honest, first-hand writing and recording: reviews, comparisons, “alternatives to X” posts, newsletter mentions, YouTube videos, podcasts, courses, and templates. Comparison posts are the format this program is built around, which is why your link can point straight at a comparison page. Tell people what ClaroCal is not good at too. It converts better and it is the reason your audience trusts you.

What is not allowed.

  1. Bidding on ClaroCal brand terms in paid search, including misspellings and brand-plus-modifier phrases.
  2. Coupon, deal, and discount-code sites. Last touch means these harvest conversions they did not cause, and ClaroCal issues no coupon codes, so a “ClaroCal coupon” page is misleading on its face.
  3. Unsolicited messaging. Email blasts, DM campaigns, comment spam, forum spam.
  4. Misrepresenting the product. Promote what ClaroCal actually does: an AI daily planner with two-way Google Calendar sync, plans at Essential $6, Plus $10, Power $16 per month (annual at ten months’ price), and a 14-day trial on every plan. Do not claim an Outlook or Apple Calendar integration, team features, or a shipped mobile app. We do not have them.
  5. Self-referral. Your own link for your own subscription, or for accounts you control.
  6. Impersonating ClaroCal. Domains, handles, ad copy, or email that reads as official.
  7. Trademark-infringing domains, such as clarocal.net or getclarocal.com.
  8. Cookie stuffing, forced clicks, and auto-redirects. Anything that sets the code without a deliberate click by the reader.
  9. Adult, illegal, hateful, or knowingly misleading content.

Paid advertising other than brand bidding is allowed, with one warning we would rather give you than have you discover. Traffic sent through an ad network’s redirector often loses attribution in Safari beyond 24 hours, because the browser treats the redirector as a tracker and caps the cookie. That is a property of the browser, not of our system, and we will not reconstruct attribution lost that way. Buy paid traffic with that priced in.

8. Suspension and termination

You leave, whenever you like. Your existing referrals keep accruing. The promise was for the life of the subscription and leaving the program does not unmake a referral you already made. The annual sweep pays whatever accrues. If you would rather close cleanly, ask for a final settlement: we pay your payable balance with the $25 threshold waived, and future accrual ends.

We suspend you, pending review. If something needs looking into, we pause the account: accrual continues, because the ledger is a record of what happened, but nothing becomes payable while the pause is on. We tell you why and you can respond. A suspension ends in reinstatement or in termination for cause.

We end your participation without cause, or discontinue the program. 30 days’ notice by email. Everything accrued becomes payable and is paid in the next run with the $25 threshold waived. The 30-day hold still applies, because a subscription can still be refunded after a program ends.

We terminate you for cause, meaning a breach of section 7 or fraud. Accruals are reversed, the unpaid balance is forfeited, and it may go negative. Money already paid to you is never clawed back and never pursued.

In every one of those cases, the customers you referred are untouched. They keep their accounts, their subscriptions, and any trial they were given. Nothing that happens between us reaches your audience.

9. Changes to these terms

Every change bumps the version at the top of this page. Clarifications get a minor version. Anything that changes the economics or your obligations gets a major one.

10. Relationship, liability, governing law

You are an independent contractor. Nothing here creates an employment relationship, a partnership, an agency, or a joint venture, and neither of us may bind the other or speak on the other’s behalf.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you under these terms is limited to the commissions paid to you in the 12 months before the claim, and neither of us is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or revenue.

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict of laws principles, and the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction. They are the entire agreement between us about the affiliate program; if any part is unenforceable the rest survives; and you may not assign them without our consent, while we may assign them to a successor to our business.
